Wonderland took part in the Supporting Spoken Language in the Classroom (SSLIC) programme—an innovative initiative aimed at developing high-quality, universal language provision for all children in early years settings.
As part of the programme, nursery staff worked in partnership with educational researchers and fellow practitioners to explore how current evidence on language and communication development can be meaningfully applied within everyday practice. The project provided a valuable forum for knowledge exchange, enabling practitioners to reflect on and enhance their approaches to supporting spoken language in young children.
Through collaborative inquiry, practical strategies, and research-informed training, the SSLIC programme helped Wonderland strengthen its focus on rich, intentional language learning environments. This work has not only enhanced practitioners' understanding and confidence but also ensured that all children—regardless of background—are supported in building strong foundations in communication, a critical skill for lifelong learning and development
